Like many of you, we were deeply saddened by the passing of Adam West. Adam was a truly unique individual. Though his portrayal of Batman in the 1960s TV show lasted only a few years, he remained a cultural icon for decades. For some of us, Adam was our first introduction to Bruce Wayne, even before comics. Adam had roots here in the Pacific Northwest, growing up in Walla Walla, Washington and splitting his time between California and Idaho. Over his lifetime he supported numerous charities, once winning $250,000 on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire on behalf of an organization supporting underprivileged women and children. By all accounts, he was one of the rare idols who lived up to his character.
At this time, we are still waiting to see if Burt Ward would like to be a guest at RCCC this year and will be sure to let fans know as soon as we have confirmed arrangements. We know many of you were looking forward to meeting Adam and your support of him over the years wasn’t unnoticed. In his own words, “You have no idea how much I appreciate this.”
We hope he’ll continue to live in all our memories. May we strive to be as kind and funny as he was.
